Project Description

In coordination with UPRR, construct Double Shoofly Track for construction of new bridge for UPRR Mainline Tracks. As a Subcontractor to Griffith Company, J. A. Placek is responsible for installation and removal of shoofly tracks.

The Nogales Street Grade Separation Project is located in the City of Industry and unincorporated area of Los Angeles County crossing the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) Los Angeles Subdivision and Metrolink (Riverside Line) at UPRR milepost 22.40. This project eliminates the existing at-grade crossing at this location through construction of a roadway underpass.

This project starts from San Jose creek on the north of Pomona Freeway (Route 60) bridge on the south and includes the construction of typical streets features, site improvements, demolition and excavation of underpass bridge substructure elements, construction of piles, columns and UPRR two-track precast/pre-stressed concrete bridge, earth retaining structures pump station, and ground water dewatering systems.
All work associated with this project was done while maintaining rail operations at all time, and within major actively travelled roadways serving retail and industrial business neighborhood with high volume traffic throughout the day.

Scope of Work

Construct approximately 3,000 TF (track-feet) of Two new shoofly Tracks with 136# CWR and Concrete and Wood Ties. After completion of new railroad bridge J. A. Placek removed and dispose approx. 3,100 TF of shoofly Track

Scope of Work

Construct approximately 3,000TF (track-feet) of Double Shoofly Tracks and one (1EA) Power Operated #15 Turnout with 136# CWR and Wood Ties. After completion of new bridge and new Mainline Tracks, remove and dispose 3,000TF of Shoofly Track.
